EDU1007 Principles and Context of Lutheran Schooling
Prerequisites:
- Either The Bible Today or The Christian Faith
Course unit purpose:
Core unit of the DipTh(Ed); elective for other courses.
This unit provides students with the opportunity to investigate and explore the fundamentals of Lutheran theology and the related principles of education within the Australian context in order to prepare them for their future role as educators in congregations and/or schools of the church.

EDU1009 Parish Education
Prerequisites:
- Introduction to Teaching is desirable but not essential
Course unit purpose:
This is a core unit of the BTh/BMin ordination stream; elective for other courses.
This unit enables students to explore the theological foundations for, and content of, Christian education at a parish level, with a particular focus on the role of the catechism in the formation of Christian living. The goal is to equip and enable students to provide effective catechetical leadership in the educational program of a Christian congregation.

EDU1012 The Practice of Lutheran Education
Prerequisites:
- Principles and Context of Lutheran Schooling and either The Bible Today or The Christian Faith
Course unit purpose:
Core unit of the DipTh(Ed); elective for other courses.
This unit provides the opportunity for students to develop an understanding of Lutheran learning and teaching practices in order to prepare for their future role as educators in the schools of the Lutheran church or in similar contexts beyond the Lutheran church.

EDU1013 Introduction to Teaching
Prerequisites:
- Nil
Course unit purpose:
Core unit of BTh/BMin ordination stream: elective for other courses.
This unit provides the opportunity for students to begin to develop an understanding of the process of education through the life span and also to develop skills in the preparation of teaching and learning experiences for the parish context. This unit relates closely to the field education component of the course which provides experience in various educational situations in order to prepare students for their future role as teachers in the parish setting.

Course unit purpose:
This unit is an elective unit of undergraduate courses.
This unit enables students to explore the theological foundations for, and content of, Christian education at a parish level, with a particular focus on the role of the catechism in the formation of Christian living. The goal is to equip and enable students to provide effective catechetical leadership in the educational program of a Christian congregation
