Admission procedures

Admission procedures

Because of the nature of the programs and courses of Australian Lutheran College, admission procedures vary according to the program or course. Further information about admission should be obtained from the Director of the particular program.

Unless otherwise indicated, all application for enrolment forms for courses and units offered by ALC should be returned together with the appropriate documentation to:

The Office of Registrar
Australian Lutheran College
104 Jeffcott Street
North Adelaide SA 5006
Australia
Electronic lodgement: enrolments@alc.edu.au
Pastoral Theology students only to SPT Administrator at spt@alc.edu.au

Eligibility for admission

Admission to Australian Lutheran College undergraduate courses is normally on the basis of successful completion of secondary education to a standard required for admission to tertiary studies. However, students may also be admitted on the basis of appropriate mature age entry requirements. This may include successful performance in appropriate tests or examinations. Further details can be obtained from the Office of Registrar.

Specific entry requirements for particular degrees and awards are included in the information provided in the Course Information section

Pastoral Ministry Program

All applications to enter the Pastoral Ministry Program of Australian Lutheran College are made through the office of the pastoral program administrator.

Prospective students are advised to contact ALC to speak with someone from the pastoral ministry program.

Since the application process involves several steps, it is preferable that application for admission be made as early as possible in the year prior to the year of intended entry. Application for admission should be made no later than mid November. Beyond that date, exceptions will be considered on application to the director of the pastoral ministry program.

The application form gathers vocational information, with an emphasis on personal and family life, employment experience, church background and faith journey, perceived gifts, abilities, and proposed methods of financing study.

With the application form, guidelines will be provided for completing the requirements for admission. These guidelines will give information about letters of reference, academic transcripts, health certificate, photos, police check, taped interview, Taylor-Johnson inventory, and other items of information that are required.

The completed application form with enclosures should be returned to

Pastoral Program Administrator
Australian Lutheran College
104 Jeffcott Street
North Adelaide SA 5006

Private students

These students are now included under the General Ministry Program even though they may not be preparing for a specific area of ministry in the church.

Applicants are to obtain the Application for Admission form from the General Program Administrator, complete it and return it with the necessary enclosures.

Postgraduate courses

Because of the various admission requirements for the different postgraduate courses, students wishing to apply for admission to one of these courses should contact the Registrar at Australian Lutheran College for details relating to the particular course. Prerequisites for entry into each course are listed under the section Course Information.
