Description

As a specialisation of the Diploma of Theology, the DipTh(Ed) provides both an introduction to the study of theology and an opportunity to explore the relationship between theology and education. The DipTh(Ed) provides a basic initial qualification which is highly regarded by those who employ teachers in Lutheran and other Christian schools. It is also viewed as a valued addition for other specific roles in education such as lay chaplaincy.

Students training to become teachers in Lutheran schools may undertake specific units of the DipTh(Ed) which are able to be incorporated as the ‘Lutheran Strand’ in the undergraduate teacher education courses of some state universities. Where this is not possible, the DipTh(Ed) provides an accredited award for those students undertaking these units to meet the requirements for accreditation as teachers for Lutheran schools.
