Lay ministry

The School of Theological Studies skills people for a wide range of ministry roles in congregations, schools, various institutions and the general community. These include:

  • parish workers
  • youth workers
  • chaplains
  • counsellors
  • directors of Christian education
  • family ministry coordinators

and the like.

The LCA Department for Church Worker Support oversees the ministry and well-being of lay workers, ensuring that church workers are appropriately skilled, equipped, supported and resourced to undertake their mission and ministry service. This includes liaising with Australian Lutheran College regarding education and training programs, and providing financial support.

People interested in study to become lay ministry workers should contact the School of Theological Studies.
