Catalogue
The catalogue is searchable using the Dynix library system and library holdings appear on Libraries Australia, the National Library's internet based service which gives access to the Australian National Bibliographic Datbase.
Items in the main and rare book collections are classifed according to the Pettee classification system for theological libraries. The remaining collections are classifed using Dewey classification.
The library is involved in the programs of resource sharing and cooperation developed by the Australian and New Zealand Theological Library Association (ANZTLA), South Australian Chapter.
A series of brochures provide information on all aspects of library use.
PC Usage Policy
The Löhe Memorial Library provides a number of PC’s for registered library patrons to access the Internet, word processors, CD-ROMs and passworded online databases. All computers are networked to a printer and printing costs 11c per page.
Conditions of Use
- You must be a current member of the Library to use the internet, word processors, CD-ROMs and online databases.
- Patrons using the computing facilities must comply with all laws that protect intellectual property rights.
- The Library’s statement on copyright can be accessed from the Library web page.
Indexes
The ATLA (American Theological Library Association) religion index, Religious and Theological Abstracts and Proquest religion index are available online.
A number of theological resources are available on CD ROM e.g. Luther’s Works
The ARI (Australian Religion Index) is held in print format along with other theological indexes.
Holdings for periodicals are listed in AULOTS (Australasian Union List of Serials in Theological Libraries) which is available online.
Borrowing
Up to 20 items may be borrowed at one time with a usual borrowing period of 4 weeks. (See Membership for details of who may borrow.) Restrictions apply to particular texts used as part of college courses. Extensions may be applied for by letter, phone, fax, or e-mail. Overdue items are fined at a rate of 55c per day.
Reciprocal borrowing agreements exist between the Löhe Memorial Library, the Library of the Australian Catholic University and the Adelaide College of Divinity.
Interlibrary loans
The library participates in the national interlibrary loans scheme, in particular with theological and university libraries.
Second hand books
Donations of second hand books are accepted by the library. Titles may be added to the collection or offered for sale.
