Religious Education Workshop - South Australia

The School of Educational Theology will be running a series of workshops at Australian Lutheran College, North Adelaide during February 2017. Religious Education Workshops will be run from 8-10 February. Units covered will include: The Practice of Lutheran Education and Teaching in a Lutheran Education Context. LCA Ordination Service

The LCA Ordination will be held at St Paul Lutheran Church, 44 Audrey Street, Blair Athol SA on Sunday, 4 December at 2pm. All are welcome to attend.

ALC's closing service for the 2016 academic year will be held in the Immanuel Lutheran Church North Adelaide on Friday, 11 November at 9am. Holy Communion will be celebrated at this service.

Rescheduled launch of two new Luther publications

All are invited to attend the rescheduled launch of two new Luther publications written by members of ALC lecturing staff. The launch will be held on Thursday, 27 October at 7.30pm in ALC's Refectory. (The original book launch planned for 29 September was cancelled due to dangerous weather conditions.)
Dr Stephen Pietsch has written Of Good Comfort and Dr Jeffrey Silcock has translated Athina Lexutt’s book, A Year with Luther - From The Great Reformer For Our Times. Copies of both publications will be on sale at the launch.

Public Lecture - Entertaining Angels - Christian Hospitality in the Refugee Age

You are invited to attend this public lecture by Dr Patrick Keifert, which will be held at the college on 26 August at 1.30pm.
In 1992 Dr Keifert published his book: Welcoming the Stranger, a public theology of worship and evangelism.
Dr Keifert has since built on this work as he currently serves as the President and Director of Research of the Church Innovations Institute. In this lecture, he will explore his original work with us as it is shaped by the 21st Century’s migration and refugee context.
2016 Fritzsche Oration

This year's oration will be delivered on Friday, 19 August at 7.30pm in ALC's chapel.
Under the working title Professorial Personalities – Luther Seminary’s Early Years, Dr Vic Pfitzner (lecturer 1968-2004; principal 1989-1997) hopes to offer recollections on the personalities associated with the beginnings of the new united seminary formed in 1968 from the union of the prior Concordia and Immanuel Seminaries.
This oration will be live-streamed and a link will be made available via this website on Friday evening.

ALITE Conference - Martin Luther at 2017: 500 years and beyond

The Australian Lutheran Institute for Theology and Ethics (ALITE) in cooperation with the education staff of Australian Lutheran College, will host an international conference on the theology of Martin Luther to mark the 500th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation in 2017.
This conference will be held in Melbourne at the Catholic Leadership Centre from 28 June to 3 July 2016 and will explore positively and critically, the reception of Martin Luther's theology today and the significance for Christianity in the future.
