Australian Lutheran Institute for Theology and Ethics
21 March 2012

A new research centre is being developed ALC. ALITE will come into existence gradually during 2012 and into 2013, with a formal launch around the time of the Synod of the Lutheran Church in April 2013.

The Board of Directors has approved the formation of the Australian Lutheran Institute for Theology and Ethics, enacting the fourth strategy in ALC's Strategic Plan. The short version of the name will be ALITE (pronounced as in 'alight'). The vision is to:

  • illuminate a spirit of enquiry that captures the essence of Lutheran theology;
  • enhance the depth, breadth, and richness of ALC’s theological environment for the benefit of the church;
  • coordinate and strengthen the research activities of the LCA so that they might contribute more fully to the church and the world.
