‘Hazing’ not tolerated
8 March 2018
On Sunday, 4 March 2018 the Channel Nine Network aired an episode of the programme 60 Minutes. In that broadcast, a small number of Australian residential colleges were identified and adversely reported upon for events that are commonly referred to as ‘hazing’. According to that report, some residential students are subjected to unwanted, non-consensual and degrading acts by other students from within their college communities as part of Orientation Week activities.
Following that report, Principal James Winderlich has reminded members of Australian Lutheran College’s boarding community, that such actions will not be tolerated.
Australian Lutheran College is a Christian community that aims to provide a safe and respectful environment that supports all aspects of learning.
