Called to serve at ALC
21 February 2017

Following a number of retirements at the college in 2016, three new staff have recently joined the team at ALC.  They are Rev Dr Adam Hensley - Lecturer in Old Testament (who replaces Dr Peter Lockwood), Dr Wendy Mayer - Associate Dean for Research (a role previously held by Dr Jeff Silcock) and Rev Thomas Pietsch - Lecturer in Church History (who replaces Dr Dean Zweck).

The trio were installed into their various positions by Bishop John Henderson on Sunday, 19 February, who preached on Matthew 5:38-48. Those who witnessed the occasion, included past and present staff of ALC, students of the college, members of the host congregation (Zion Lutheran Church, Glynde SA) and visitors from throughout the wider LCA community.  Following the rite of installation, ALC staff were invited to join their new colleagues at the altar, to receive a blessing from the Bishop for their service in the academic year ahead.

While Dr Hensley and Rev Pietsch are called specifically to teach in their respective disciplines, Dr Mayer, who is known internationally for her research on early Christian preaching and the life and works of John Chrysostom, is tasked with advancing the research culture within the college.
