ALC’s Annual Appeal Launched

On Tuesday 2 June, the national boardroom of the Lutheran Church was full of Pastors, lay-workers, and staff for the official launch of the annual appeal of Australian Lutheran College. Rev Dr Michael Semmler launched the appeal, publicly showing his support for ALC and his commitment to the work the College does in training men and women for service in the Church. Paul Hannola, the student ‘face’ of the campaign, gave a moving talk about his experiences as a Vicar and his journey to the ministry.

ALC Principal, John Henderson, said “ALC is close to the lifeblood of our church – the hopes and dreams of so many of us live in this place. Even though times may be challenging right now, history teaches us how resilient the church is – so many times she should have collapsed, yet we can always trust in God to sustain and bless her.”

These blessings are evident – even before the official launch, donations had already started arriving – despite the tough economic times.

This is the second major fundraising appeal of its kind that has been run by ALC. Last year’s appeal raised $109,977 to in teaching and forming new Pastors, teachers and lay workers. ALC thanks the church for their support and ongoing commitment to the work of ALC. This year the appeal was launched in congregations on Sunday 7 June.
