Closure of residential services
11 December 2018
ALC's residential boarding facility will close, effective from 31 January 2019. Boarder enrolments have been decreasing for some years and the College’s boarding services are no longer financially viable.
Reflecting on the closure, ALC Principal, Pastor James Winderlich said, ”It is estimated that during the past 50 years of operation, well in excess of five thousand young people have benefitted from the opportunity to live and share in the life of this unique community. The College thanks God for the opportunity to serve these young people, who came both from congregations of the Lutheran Church of Australia and the wider community.
The ALC Board has not made this decision lightly, but it believes it is the right one for this chapter in the life of the LCA’s tertiary college. The Board remains committed to the implementation of its Strategic Direction 2017-2022 and to improving the College’s financial bottom line by serving the whole Church, according to the whole Church’s needs.”
ALC students have been given assurance that their education through the College is not in any way at risk, as a result of this closure.
