Borrowing, renewals, holds
You may borrow from the library using your Student ID/Library card. (Periodicals, reference and rare book items are not available for loan.)
Do not confuse your library barcode with your student number.
Logging on to the library catalogue
There are two ways in which you may log on to the library catalogue:
- Connect to the library catalogue
- Enter User ID (library barcode; no pin required)
Or
- Connect to the library catalogue
- Choose option required (eg., My Account, Search, Place a Hold)
- Enter User ID (library barcode; no pin required)
Renewing an item
All library items may be renewed online, except
- Reserve items
- Items on hold
- Overdue items
- Items renewed more than once online
To renew an item:
- Login as directed in Logging on to the library catalogue
- Click on My account tab
- Select Renew my materials
- Follow the prompts
- Don’t forget to logout
Or
- Email or telephone the library
Placing an item on hold
You may place a hold on an item from the online catalogue under the following circumstances:
- The item is on loan
- The item is on the shelf (if you access the catalogue from outside the library)
To place a hold:
- Login to the online catalogue as described in Logging on to the library catalogue
- Locate an item in Search
- Click on the Place hold button
- Don’t forget to logout
The item will be held for you and you will be notified by email when it returns or, if on the shelf, it will be processed the following day and a notice sent to you.
